Serratia sibuyania sp. nov.

Type. Holotype male. PHILIPPINES. Luzon island, Laguna Province, coll. McGregor bearing identification label reading ‘Pyro? bimaculata E. O. 1886 HSB 1940 ’. (USNM) (Fig. 463).

Paratypes (4). PHILIPPINES. Romblon Province, Sibuyan island Baker (identification label ‘? Pyrophanes (? HSB)’ male (USNM) (Fig. 464). Maluku Province Buru Island Fruhstorfer 3 males (IRNSB).

Other fragmentary specimens examined. PHILIPPINES Luzon Island Abuyog male abdomen only. No locality label except identification ‘? Colophotia sp. HSB’ entire male. (Figs 465−468) (USNM). Luzon Leyte, HSB , male (Figs 471−473) (USNM). INDONESIA Province of Sulawesi, Makassar as ‘ Macassar Celebes’ N. Lepong-boelan Nov. 1949 coll. from Haneda, male head and prothorax only.(Fig. 469) (USNM) .

Diagnosis. A small species 5.3–6.3 mm long, dorsally pale light brownish yellow with black tipped elytral apices.

Male. 5.3–8.3 mm long. Colour: PN slightly orange yellow, semitransparent, MS, MN and elytra very pale brownish yellow with black tipped elytra; head dark brown in holotype and Buru island specimens, or yellowish orange; labrum yellowish orange; antennae incomplete in holotype, visible segments including scape and pedicel dark brown; scape paler brown than rest of antennal segments which are mid brown in paratype; venter of thorax and legs very pale yellow except for brown tibiae and tarsi 1, and brown tarsi 2; abdomen semitransparent, yellowish white, with white LO in V6, 7 and yellow brown T8.

Pronotum 0.9–1.1 mm long; 1.5–1.9 mm wide. Elytron 4.4–5.2 mm long. Head GHW 1.1–1.4mm; SIW 0.2– 0.3mm.

Additional features determined from fragmentary specimens listed above: Aedeagal sheath (Figs 471−473): ap- prox. 4 times as long as wide; without bulbous paraprocts; symmetrical in posterior area where sheath sternite tapers evenly to a narrow rounded apex; anterior half of sternite apically rounded; tergite without lateral arms extending anteriorly at sides of sheath sternite; tergite without projecting pieces along posterior margin of T9, anterior margin without transverse band.

Etymology. The type locality is used as a specific name in apposition.

Remarks. Because of the very distinctive nature of the antennae and abdomen it was considered appropriate to include reference to certain specimens which are either fragmentary or not labelled but which help to further illustrate certain features of this species.
