Kuantana menayah Ballantyne sp. nov.

Types. Holotype male, paratype male, female. MALAYSIA. Sungai Selangor 4 kms west of Kg Kuantan, no date, R. Menayah (ANIC) . Paratype male Kg Kuantan 14.viii.1998 no collector (FRIM) .

Diagnosis. 8.7–10.4 mm long; yellowish pronotum with brownish yellow semitransparent elytra which are black tipped (specimens are preserved in ethanol).

Male. 8.7–10.4 mm long. Colour: pronotum, MS and MN yellowish, elytra yellow with narrow darker brown edging to inner edge of epipleuron, and black apex; head, antennae and palpi black; venter of thorax pale yellowish brown; legs yellowish brown, tibiae 1, 2 slightly darker, darkening towards apex; tarsi 3 dark brown; basal ventrites yellow; V4 pale brown across most of median area, with pale lateral margins; V6 largely dark brown with paler markings at anterolateral corners and paired paler spots near corners; LO white; V7 yellowish between LO halves; T7, 8 orange; basal tergites pale semitransparent with small brown markings at edges.

Female. 11.3 mm long. Colour: as for male except for white LO in V6 only and dingy yellowish V7, 8 which bear irregular darker markings.

Etymology. The species is named for its collector Rajan Menayah with thanks.
