Cicada hastifera Walker 1858a: 25 (type material examined).

Type locality. Santarem, Brazil.

Remarks. Previously the species was reported from Venezuela, Brazil, Peru, and Panama (Metcalf 1963c; Wolda & Ramos 1992; Sanborn 2007a).
