Ariasa nigrovitatta Distant 1905a: 314 (type material examined).

Type locality. Central Brazil, Chapada (Brazil), and Bolivia.

Remarks. The species was reported from Argentina, Bolivia, and Brazil (Metcalf 1963a) and was recently added to the cicada fauna of Paraguay (Sanborn 2011a). It has been recorded in Córdoba, Jujuy, and Tucumán Provinces in Argentina (Torres 1945b; Hayward 1960). We collected specimens in Chaco, Córdoba, Salta, Santiago del Estero, and Tucumán Provinces. The species is associated with the Chaco floristic province (Sanborn et al. 2011a).
