Recognition characters: Gray species; length 5–6 mm; mystax yellowish white composed of 4–6 bristles; relatively large, widely spaced eyes; thorax humped, gray pollinose; scutellum gray pollinose lacking setae and bristles; wings dark brown; abdomen brown pollinose; legs, yellowish brown, dark brown ring at apex of tibiae, hind tibiae and first tarsal segment expanded slightly.
Distribution: TETON: Biological Research Station, Old Moran, Grand Teton National Park, 2,042 m (6,700 ft), 18 July 1962 (JGE).
Habitat: Sagebrush steppe shrub and grassland vegetation type.
