Chrysoserica Brenske, 1899a *: 315 (type species by subsequent designation: Serica auricoma Brenske, 1896; Ahrens 2001a: 132); Dalla Torre 1912: 38; Krajcik 2012: 73; Ahrens & Fabrizi 2016: 53; Frings et al. 2020: 59.

Remarks. Brenske (1898: 355) included the name Chrysoserica with Mericserica (in Brenske 1898: unavailable name) in the same couplet and gave no further morphological differentiation, nor included a species name with Chrysoserica . Consequently, according to Article 12 (International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature 1999) the name Chrysoserica (Brenske 1898) is not available. A complete description, including species names, was published in the next fascicle (Brenske 1899a). The genus was recently revised by Ahrens (2001a).
