Doxocalia Brenske, 1900a: 77 (type species by monotypy; Doxocalia superba Brenske, 1901); Dalla Torre 1912: 47; Moser 1917: 64; Burgeon 1942a: 145; Krajcik 2012: 98.

Remarks. Doxocalia was grouped by Brenske (1898) in the same couplet with two other genera, Bilga Fairmaire, 1893 and Thrymoserica (in Brenske 1898: unavailable name), while it was not mentioned elsewhere nor in association with any species name. Thus, the genus name became available only after Brenske (1900a) properly diagnosed it in a key.
