Remarks. Brenske (1898: 355) presented the name Mericserica along with Chrysoserica (in Brenske 1898: unavailable name) in the same couplet. Because there was no further morphological differentiation nor an indication of species included in Mericserica, the generic name was unavailable until Brenske (1899a) properly diagnosed it in a key. The genus was recently revised by Ahrens (2004a) and Ahrens & Fabrizi (2016), however, the genus name was misspelled as Meriserica in these works.
