Rhinolophus mehelyi

Jermë (39°49.671 ʹ N, 20°06.872 ʹ E, 56 m above sea level (a.s.l)), 3 May 2010, 1 pregnant ♀ and 1♂ ad. harp-trapped inside abandoned military tunnels. In total, 5–10 individuals were observed near a colony of R. euryale . These records demonstrate that R. mehelyi is a breeding species in Albania.

This is the only known locality of this rarely recorded species in the western Balkans north of central Greece (Hanák et al. 2001). Eastwards, the nearest known localities are in eastern Serbia (Paunović et al. 1998) and northern Macedonia (Kryštufek et al. 1992).
