Type species: Platerodrilus sinuatus Pic, 1921 (subsequent designation by Kazantsev 2002).

Remarks. The aedeagus-based classification of the Platerodrilus lineage, with all of its species divided into welldefined three groups, Platerodrilus, Duliticola Mjöberg, 1925 and Platrilus Kazantsev, 2009, first did not seem to correlate with the molecular analysis, in which all species groups appeared intertwined, and Duliticola and Platrilus were regarded as synonyms (Masek & Bocak, 2014), then, with a wider range of taxa included in the sequencing, Duliticola was restored as a subgenus, and another subgenus, Zhelongia Li, Pang, et Bocak, 2017, adult males of which are separable only by the DNA data, was added (Li et al., 2017).
