TYPE SPECIES: Simia talapoin Schreber, 1774 .

COMMENTS: Is a subgenus of Cercopithecus according to Szalay and Delson (1979), but also see Groves (1978b, 1989). A second species of Miopithecus, described by Machado (1969) has not yet been named; its distribution is Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon.
