Tribe Solenopterini Lacordaire, 1869

The tribe Solenopterini is composed of seven genera and 55 species (Tavakilian & Chevillotte 2018). The larva of Sphenostethus taslei (Buquet, 1841) was described by Craighead (1915). A larva of Elateropsis sp., from Jamaica, was compared with S. taslei .

Remarks. Based on the description provided by Craighead (1915), the larva of S. taslei is characterized by: texture of integument tough, shining and glabrous; epistomal margin projected above clypeal base and with additional carina above epistoma; lower boundary projecting in two elongate, flattened triangular teeth over clypeus; upper boundary bearing four similar acute processes; three pairs of oval stemmata; abdominal spiracles subelliptical. There is no information about the presence of ambulatory ampullae on the abdomen.
