Type data: This species was described based on a single male collected in Minas Gerais state, southeast Brazil. The holotype is housed at ZMB and it has the following data label: [green label with black rim] Minas Geraës Brasil 1897 ex. coll. Fruhstorfer [printed]\ Centris smithi Fr. ♂ [handwritten] 1910 Friese det. [printed]\ Coll. Friese [printed]\ Coll. Friese [printed]\ langsdorfii Smith [handwritten] (ZMB).

Type locality: Brazil: Minas Gerais state (“Minas Geraës”) .
