Centris insignis var. scutellaris Friese, 1899: 42 . Junior synonym of C. laticincta (Spinola, 1841) (Vivallo 2020) .

Type data: This species was described based on a single male specimen collected in north-central Colombia. Comment: This species shares the same patterns of coloration of the integument and pubescence with C. erythrosara Moure & Seabra, 1950, a member of C. (Ptilotopus).
