Centris buchwaldi Friese, 1901

Centris (Cyanocentris) buchwaldi Friese, 1901: 346 . Junior synonym of C. maculifrons Smith, 1854 (Moure et al. 2007).

Type data: Friese described this species from a type series formed by seven females collected by F. G. von Buchwald in Guayaquil, southwest Ecuador. Four of the seven syntypes were found at ZMB and one of them is here designated the lectotype. The specimen has the following data label: Guayaquil v. Buchwald. Comment: This species is easily identifiable by the dark brown to black pubescence on the intertegular area (sometimes extended on the anterior half of the mesoscutum) combined with the greenish metallic metasoma with orange pubescence on distal terga in both sexes.
