Centris (Hemisia) metathoracica Friese, 1912a: 200 .

Type data: This species was proposed based on ten females and one male collected by Buchwald in Guayaquil, southwestern Ecuador. According to Moure et al. (2007) the syntypes are housed at AMNH and in the ZMB, but they were not found in this latter collection. Instead, there were found syntypes in the HNHM and NMW, along with two specimens in the AMNH. One of the syntypes (female) housed in this latter collection is here designated the lectotype.
