Centris tricolor Friese, 1899: 45 .

Type data: Friese (1899) proposed this species based on specimens of both sexes collected in Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil. Zanella (2002) designated a specimen from Montevideo housed at ZMB as the lectotype. This exemplar, as well as the lectotype and paralectotype of C. labrosa simplex, was collected by Friedrich Sellow (see comment on that species) and it has the following data label: [green label] Montevid. The current condition and depository of the paralectotypes are unknown.
