Type species. Esagonatopus niger (Fenton, 1924), by original designation.
Diagnosis. Female (Plate 134A, B): apterous (Plate 134A, B); palpal formula 6/2; antenna without rhinaria; pronotum crossed by strong transverse impression (Plate 134B); enlarged claw with distal apex pointed, with one small subapical tooth, without lamellae, with bristles or peg-like hairs (Plate 136A); tibial spurs 1/0/1. Male (Plate 135A, B): fully winged (Plate 135A, B); occipital carina absent or incomplete; in this last case, only present behind and shortly on sides of posterior ocelli; occiput concave; temple present; palpal formula 6/2; tibial spurs 1/1/2.
Distribution. Nearctic, Neotropical, Oriental.
Hosts. Cicadellidae (except Typhlocybinae, Idiocerinae, Macropsinae) (Guglielmino & Olmi, 2006; Virla & Olmi, 2007).
World species. Seven species are known, one in the Oriental region.
