Diagnosis. Mandibles apically bifid; gular sutures close, but not confluent anteriorly; labrum tridentate, maxillary palpi with palpomeres 2 and 3 enlarged and somewhat flattened, 3 larger than 2; antenna with 11 antennomeres, moderately incrassate, apical antennomeres lacking sensorial appendages, antennal club composed of three last antennomeres; tarsi with 3 tarsommeres; aedeagus with long, slender, and distally acute ventral process, lacking parameres; female genital segment with more or less distinct pair of sclerites.
Remarks. The genus was erected for three new species from Crete and later another species was discovered in Sámos.
