Remarks. Utica gracilipes White, 1847 (type locality: Negros I., Philippines) is widely distributed in the Indo-West Pacific: viz. Philippines, Indonesia, Taiwan, southern Japan, and Fiji (Adams & White 1849; Holthuis 1978; Naruse et al. 2005). In the Philippines, besides Negros I., this species has also been recorded from Mindoro I. (Puerto Galera), Bohol I. (Antequerra), and Mindanao I. (Zamboanga), generally from freshwater habitats (White 1847 b, c; Adams & White 1849; de Elera 1895; Estampador 1937; N.K. Ng et al. 2007). Additional records are noted for northern Mindanao in the present study (Iligan and Maigo), where the specimens were observed on the edges of slow-moving freshwater streams, beneath leaf litter and fallen branches.
