Pyxidognathus granulosus, N.K. Ng et al. 2007: 256 .— Ng et al. 2008: 231, fig. 169.
Material examined. 1 female, 15.4 by 17.3 mm, (ZRC; NJL160732), Brgy. Poblacion, Maigo town, Lanao del Norte prov., coll. N.J. Lagare, 22 Sep. 2016 .
Remarks. Pyxidognathus granulosus A. Milne-Edwards,1879 (type locality:Ovalau, Fiji) has a wide distribution in the Indo-West Pacific region: Indonesia, Japan, and Polynesia (De Man, 1892; Tesch 1918b; Holthuis, 1978; Maenosono et al. 2015). Detailed descriptions of P. granulosus were provided by Tesch (1918b: 168, pl. 11 fig. 2) and Serène & Moosa (1971: pl. 3 figs. C, D, pl. 4 figs. A–D). For the Philippines, N.K. Ng et al. (2007: 256) listed P. granulosus from Cebu I. as one of the varunid comparative material in their treatment of Xenograpsidae N.K. Ng, Davie, Schubart & Ng, 2007, but without any discussion on the species. A photo of this specimen also appeared in Ng et al. (2008: 231, fig. 169), where it was said to occur in “fast-flowing streams near river mouths.” The material from Maigo, a single female specimen, agrees well with the published descriptions. It was collected from a slowflowing freshwater stream with a substrate consisting of pebbles and stones.
