Lectotype (Paton in Jarvis & al., Regnum Veg. 127: 74. 1993): [icon] "Ocymum Zeylanicum perenne, odoratissimum, latifolium" in Burman, Thes. Zeylan.: 174, t. 80, f. 1. 1737 (see p. 68).
Current name: Perilla frutescens (L.) Britton ( Lamiaceae).
Note: Hedge (in Ali & Nasir, Fl. Pakistan 192: 265. 1990) designated Herb. Linn. No. 731.2 (LINN) as type but this is an Arduino collection not received by Linnaeus until 1763 and not original material for the name.
