spurcata (Macrorhaphis) Walker 1868: 531–532 . [Fig. 194]
Original data: “ a, b. Natal. From M. Gueinzius’ collection.” [two syntypes]
SYNTYPE ♂: blue-margined syntype disc; green-margined type disc; “ Pt Natal 55.96.”; “ MACRORHAPHIS SPURCATA . sp. n. F. WALKER 1868 ”; “G. Schmitz det. 1976 Macrorhaphis acuta ♂ DALLAS”; “NHMUK 010592175”. Specimen carded; fourth and fifth right antennomeres, fifth left antennomere missing. Pygophore kept inside a glass vial (Fig. 194).
Current status: Macrorhaphis (Megarhaphis) acuta Dallas, 1851 (synonymised by Schouteden 1905: 177; see Schouteden 1907: 39, for the subgeneric placement).
Notes: Strangely enough, Walker had noted “The spines of the thorax are more acute than those of M. tristis ” [emphasis ours], but he did not think it could be M. acuta Dallas to which Schouteden later synonymised it. One syntype is missing or was not recognised.
