Scolopsis vosmeri (Bloch, 1792)

Material examined. SMF 35054 (2: 10.1–15.4 cm); KAUMM 103 (3: 9.8–14.8 cm).

Remarks. Trawled specimens differ from typical S. vosmeri, described from Japan, in lacking of a whitish stripe anteriorly on the side of the body below lateral line. Probably, S. vosmeri is a complex of similar species, and at present under study by Barry C. Russell. If the Red Sea population is re-instated as a separate species, the name Scolopsis kurite Rüppell, 1828 would be available.
