Lectotype (Roberts in J. Linn. Soc., Bot. 60: 253, pl. 1, 2a. 1968): Herb. A. van Royen No. 910.153-1332 (L) .

Current name: Cystoseira foeniculacea (L.) Grev. ( Cystoseiraceae).

Note: Roberts (in Brit. Phycol. Bull. 3: 347, f. 1, 2. 1967) discussed the protologue and figured the van Royen collection but did not refer to the material as the type. The typification was formalised by her the following year. Roberts (l.c. 3: 556, f. 11. 1968) provided an additional photograph of a preparation of the type material, together with a scale bar (missing from the earlier images).
