Current name: Plocamium cartilagineum (L.) P.S. Dixon ( Plocamiaceae).

Note: Saunders & Lehmkuhl (in Europ. J. Phycol. 40: 303. 2005) provide a discussion concerning the likely provenance of the type collection and reproduce an image of it (f. 12), and rehydrated microscopical preparations (f. 13, 14).
