Current name: Frankenia hirsuta L. ( Frankeniaceae).

Note: Siddiqi (in Jafri & El-Gadi, Fl. Libya 64: 4. 1979) designated 457.4 (LINN) as lectotype, but this is a collection from Hasselquist, not originating from either Puglia or Crete and hence not original material. As pointed out by Santos Guerra (in Anales Jard. Bot. Madrid 50: 136. 1992), most of the material on this sheet belongs to F. corymbosa Desf., of which Siddiqi appears to have been unaware. Santos Guerra noted that the cited Micheli plate and Herb. Burser XVI: 47 (UPS) both correspond with usage, but did not make a formal choice of type.
