Drepanothrips Uzel
Drepanothrips Uzel, 1895: 213 . Type species: Drepanothrips reuteri Uzel, 1895, by original designation and monotypy.
Female. Macropterous. Head wider than long, with interantennal projection broad and about 0.5 times as wide as width of first antennal segment (Fig. 4A); mouth-cone not elongate, with 3-segmented maxillary palpi. Compound eyes without pigmented ommatidia. Ocellar setae I present; setae III short. Postocular setae four pairs. Antennae 6-segmented, segment I without dorsal apical setae, II with an inner dorsal apical setae longer than outer seta, III and IV with sense-cones forked, III to VI with some rows microtrichia on both dorsal and ventral surfaces (Fig. 4B).
Pronotum wider than long distinctly sculptured with transverse anastomosing striae, without long posteroangular setae, but with four pairs of setae on posterior margin, B2 setae the longest (Fig. 4A). Mesonotum distinctly sculptured with transverse striae; median pair of setae situated far from posterior margin and much anterior to submedian setae; CPS absent anteromedially (Fig. 4C). Metascutum reticulated; CPS absent (Fig. 4C). Metaepimeron with two setae. Metaepisternum without setae. Metapreepisternum developed with one seta. Prosternal ferna barely divided at middle; basantra membranous, without setae (cf. Fig. 18 A). Mesosternum with sternopleural suture complete, reaching at anterior margin; endofurca with spinula (cf. Fig. 18 A); spinasternum narrow and curved posteriorly at middle. Metasternal endofurca with spinula (cf. Fig. 18 A). Fore wing first vein with long gap in setal row; second vein with four setae; clavus with four veinal and one discal setae; posteromarginal fringe cilia wavy. Tarsi 2-segmented.
Abdominal terga without ctenidia and posteromarginal craspeda, not clearly divided from laterotergites; terga I to VII with B1 setae wide apart from each other than their length (Fig. 5 A); terga II to VIII with numerous ciliate microtrichia along lines of sculpture at each side; tergum VIII with posteromarginal comb complete (cf. Fig. 15 A); tergum IX without CPS; tergum X without median slit; sterna with numerous ciliate microtrichia along lines of sculpture at each side, without discal setae and posteromarginal craspeda; sterna III to VII with three pairs of posteromarginal setae, but II with two pairs; sternum VII with all setae at posterior margin. Ovipositor developed.
Male. Macropterous. General structure as in female; abdominal tergum IX with drepanae (Fig. 5 B).
Comments. This genus includes only a single species, and although this has a unique 6-segmented antenna the rest of the body structure is very similar to that of Scirtothrips species.
