Saproxylic habits.

unknown; larvae of Orphilus Erichson, 1846 develop within dry, fungus-infested branches (Beal 1985; Pushkin and Mykhailovych 2019).

Conservation.

Occurrence probability increases in old forests (predating 1938 and oak dominated) in the Piedmont (Traylor et al. 2024).
