TYPE LOCALITY: Egypt, Kom Ombo .

DISTRIBUTION: Senegal to Botswana, Mozambique, Somalia and Egypt; S Arabia; S Iran; Pakistan; NW India.

SYNONYMS: haedinus, maritimus, rhodesiae, senegalensis, Sudani, swirae.

COMMENTS: Subgenus Taphozous . Includes senegalensis and Sudani; see Hayman and Hill (1977:16).
