DISTRIBUTION: Gambia to Kenya; Tanzania (including Zanzibar); Mozambique.

SYNONYMS: leonis, ochraceus.

COMMENTS: Subgenus Xiphonycteris . Includes leonis; see El-Rayah (1981:6).
