DISTRIBUTION: Honduras to Uruguay and E Brazil; Trinidad.

COMMENTS: Subgenus Leuconoe . Originally described as a subspecies of simus . M. guaycuru may be the oldest name for this species; see LaVal (1973a:32-35).
