Amberana pascali Soulier-Perkins sp. n.

(Figs 97–103)

Description. Postclypeus convex bearing like all Amberana a triangular dimple at frons base. Vertex and pronotum larger than long. Ocelli closer to each other than to eyes. Pronotum with anterior margin straight, bearing a short and small carina starting on edge of posterior margin and being perpendicular to it. Scutellum larger than long (measures taken along its anterior margin and on its middle) with a large concavity in its centre and two smaller concavities anteriorly. Fore wing 3 times longer than wide. Meta femur bearing a single strong spine laterally.

Coloration. Head, thorax and legs with exception of meta femur, black. Abdomen and meta femur dark orange. Fore wings black bearing three orange-yellow spots. Pattern on fore wings comparable with those of A. sexguttata and A. elongata .

Size. Holotype: total length: 11.98 mm, fore wing: 10.27 mm.

Total length: 11.98–13.25 mm (from anterior margin of frons to tip of fore wing on dorsal view), fore wing: 11.25 mm

Male genitalia (Figs 100–103). Pygofer with dorsal margin curved ventrally at middle, posterior margin gently curved posteriorly except for the protuberant area on last quarter bottom part. Pygofer generally narrow anteroposteriorly. Pygofer height: 2.08 mm. Apex of subgenital plate bearing dorsally a pad of setae. Parameres with a single dorsal extension thumb shaped (Fig 101). Aedeagus developed anteriorly in a single regular pointed protrusion. A small lump is located where the second protrusion is present for the species like A. bergevini . Posterior dorsal extension of aedeagus cogged laterally, anterior dorsal extension shorter and slimmer.

Note. At a first look the general pattern on the fore wing could be mistaken with those of A. elongata but the spots of colour are clearer and bigger for A. pascali .

Etymology. Named after Pascal, the first name of the first author’s brother.
