lateralis (Walker), 1858: 221

( Tetanocera) [Steyskal 1966: 447]

HT: ♂ “Valley of the Amazon.” NHMUK, unnumbered [examined by Steyskal 1966: 447; LK 1968, 1998]

Note: Marinoni et al. 2003 presented comments on the condition and labeling of the holotype and their examination of it. They noted that B.H. Cogan prepared the postabdomen [terminalia] and sent a drawing of the postabdomen, with the distiphallus clearly shown, to G.C. Steyskal. However, the genitalic preparation seems to be lost. Cogan’s letter of 29.IV.1968 to Steyskal, with his drawing, is in LK files in USNM archives. This drawing remains as the most tangible piece of evidence in regard to the holotype of T. lateralis; it agrees very closely with Steyskal’s drawing in Marinoni et al. 2003: 7, fig 8.
