Taxonomical remark. Several species newly described by Schwenke (1999: 59-62) in his sylvarum -group of Mesochorus were separated mainly by their different size, but do not show distinct morphological differences in our experience. Their correct state as separable taxa or probable variants of the variable Mesochorus atriventris remain unclear to date. A closer study of the European material with more molecular data and rearing results will be necessary to clarify this taxonomical puzzle.
