Eudorylas trichosubepandrialis Rafael, n. sp.
(Figs. 26–32)
Diagnosis. Antennae brown, flagellum yellow, acute. Legs with femora predominantly black, tibiae yellow. Midfemora with ventral ctenidia. Fore and midtibia with distinct posteroventral bristle. Abdomen black, brown pruinose. Subepandrial sclerite with distinct setae.
Description (male). Body length 3.1 mm; wings 3.7 mm. Antennae brown, flagellum acute. Frons velvety black with a median point shining black. Thorax dark brown to black, brown pruinose dorsally and gray pruinose laterally (mesopleuron and postnotum). Legs, coxae, trochanters and femora predominantly black, tibiae and basal tarsomeres yellow. Midfemora with short ventral ctenidia. Foretibia and midtibia with posteroventral bristle. Wings hyaline, except for brown pterostigma; third costal section slightly longer than fourth; crossvein rm located at basal one third of the cell dm; last section of vein M1 almost straight. Halteres brown. Abdomen (Fig. 26) black, brown pruinose, slightly more clear on posterior margin of tergites 2 and 3, almost all tergite 4 and all tergite 5; posterolaterally with inconspicuous gray pruinose spots, visible on certain lights. Terminalia (Fig. 27) with large membranous area apically on syntergosternite 8; surstyli asymmetrical, in lateral view as in Fig. 28 showing the subepandrial sclerite with distinct setae. Hypandrium and phallus as in Fig. 29. Hypandrium with short protuberance on each side, the external one distinctly setulose (Fig. 30). Ejaculatory apodeme as in Figs. 31, 32.
Female. Body length 3.1 mm; wing 3.5–3.6 mm. Frons gray pruinose except shining black near ocellar tubercle. Tergites 2–5 more extensively posterolaterally. Syntergosternite 7+8 brown and ovipositor rather yellow, shape identical to Fig. 25 of E. subvexus . Ovipositor almost straight, same length of the bilobate syntergosternite. In others respects identical to description of male.
Material. Holotype ɗ (INPA). Verbatim text of three pin labels: NICARAGUA, Granada, Volcán Mombacho, San Joaquin #1 [white paper] / 31.iii.1998, J.M. Maes, Malaise trap [white paper] / Holotype ɗ, Eud. trichosubepandrialis Rafael [red paper]. Terminalia placed in a microvial with glycerin and pinned along with the specimen.
Paratypes same data as holotype, except as stated: 15.ii.1998 (2Ψ MEL).
Etymology. From the Greek trichos, hair, setae, in reference to the distinct setae present on subepandrial sclerite.
Remarks. E. trichosubepandrialis, n. sp. is close to E. barueriensis (Hardy) from South of Brazil in the frons coloration and in the apex shape of the hypandrium and phallus. It is different by the distinct setulose subepandrial sclerite, presence of one tubercle on each side of the hypandrium and flattened ejaculatory apodeme (umbelliform in barueriensis).
