Gobio gymnostethus
Common name. Cappadocian gudgeon.
Diagnosis. Distinguished from other species of Gobio in Anatolia by: ○ 41–44 total lateral-line scales / ○ chest completely scaled, scales extending forward to or almost to isthmus / ○ head length 25–28 % SL / ○ 5–6 scales between posterior extremity of pelvic base and anus / ○ interorbital distance 1.6–1.9 times in eye diameter / ○ no black spots on head / ○ 6 scale rows between dorsal origin and lateral line / ○ pelvic not reaching behind anus in female / ○ interorbital distance 1.6–2.2 times in eye diameter / ○ head profile behind nostrils markedly convex. Size up to 140 mm SL.
Distribution . Türkiye: Melendiz drainage.
Habitat. Slow to moderate-flowing streams with sandy or gravelly bottoms.
Biology. No data.
Conservation status. CR; abundant but declining within its very small range, which is heavily impacted by water extraction and dams.
