Synergus abei Melika & Schwéger in Schwéger et al. (2015a) . Zootaxa 3999 (4): 459. Type material: PHMBL (holotype), paratypes in PHMBL and USNM according to Schwéger et al. (2015a).
Material examined (2♂). Newly reared material deposited in UB with the following data: KOR: 8, Daejeon, Chun- gnam National University campus (South Korea), Ex. sexual galls of Plagiotrochus kunugiphagus, Q. variabilis, (28.x.2017) xi.2017, Roca-Cusachs leg.
Distribution. Japan (Hokkaidô and Kyűshű islands) (Schwéger et al. 2015a). First record of this species for South Korea (this paper).
Biology. Reared from undescribed acorn galls and unknown bud galls on Q. mongolica and Q. serrata (Schwéger et al. 2015a) . The new material included in this paper was reared from sexual galls of Plagiotrochus kunugiphagus on Q. variabilis Blume.
Remarks. According to Pénzes et al. (2018), P. kunugiphagus is known only from Q. acutissima; however, Saito (1932) found galls of the sexual generation of P. kunugiphagus on Q. variabilis .
