Genus Cerapachys F. Smith ^HNS

Ants in this genus are subterranean predators on other ants and they are not commonly encountered in California. Workers of C. augustae Wheeler ^HNS have been recorded from three localities in southern coastal California (specimens in LACM and UCDC), while males of C. davisi M. R. Smith ^HNS have been collected at light in desert locations in Imperial and San Bernardino Counties (Snelling & George 1979).
