Distribution: Kei, Savu, Roti, Semau, and Nusa Penida Isls (Indonesia); possibly Timor.

Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Vulnerable.

Discussion: Subgenus Taphozous . Formerly included in melanopogon, but see Kitchener et al. (1993 b) and Kitchener and Suyanto (1995). Also see Flannery (1995 b).
