In Macau, adults have so far been recorded only in late spring and range in total length 10-12 mm and 3-4.5 mm in maximum width. In nearby Hong Kong, however, they have been observed throughout the summer and there larval food plants include Cucurbita moschata, Benincasa hispida, Luffa acutangula and Lagenaria siceraria (Yiu 2009). Elsewhere, larvae have also been found boring into stems of Coccinia indica, Luffa aegyptiaca and Trichosanthes cucumerina (Beeson 1941; Nair 1975; David and Ramamurthy 2012; Kumawat et al. 2015).
