Lephana EXCISATA Kaye, 1925
Transactions of the Entomological Society of London, 1924 (3 & 4), 413–428[421], pl. XLV: fig. 15. Combination still valid (see Poole 1989).
Holotype, female, pinned:
Specimen data: “V.Vale 29|1|22” [Handwritten (by Lamont)] “ Lephana sp.n. Ƥ W.H.T.Tams det.” [Handwritten & Printed]. “Lamont Collection 1950 -16” [Printed] with label with “ TYPE ” [Handwritten in red ink], glued to it. “ Lephana excisata Kaye ” [Handwritten Lamont cabinet label]. Label justifying holotype status of specimen by M.J.W.Cock, 1997.
Remarks: This specimen collected at Verdant Vale, Trinidad on 29th January 1922 is unambiguously the holotype. It is illustrated in colour in Pl. XLV: fig. 15 (Kaye 1925, Kaye & Lamont 1927). Poole (1989) erroneously suggests that the [holo] type is in BM(NH).
