Specimen data: “Rock | 1/1/18 ” [Handwritten (by Lamont)]. “Lamont | Collection | 1950-16” [Printed] with label with “ TYPE ” [Handwritten in red ink] glued to it. “ Lamontia calibana Kaye ” [Handwritten Lamont cainet label].
Remarks: This specimen collected by Sir N. Lamont at Rock, Trinidad on 1 January 1918 is unambiguously the holotype. It is illustrated in colour in Pl. I: fig. 18 (Kaye 1922, Kaye & Lamont 1927). Lamontia calibana Kaye is the type species of the genus Lamontia Kaye, 1922 by monotypy. Kaye & Lamont (1927) give the type locality as “Rock-Penal Road”, Trinidad.
