Specimen data: Holotype: “V.Vale | 1/1/22 ” [Handwritten (by Lamont)]. “ Type | H.T.” [Round, red bordered]. “Lamont | Collection | 1950-16” [Printed] and another label “ Type ” [Handwritten in red ink] glued to it. “ Sylepta nigralis Kaye ” [Handwritten Lamont cabinet label].

Remarks: This specimen collected at Verdant Vale, Trinidad, 1 January 1922, by Sir N. Lamont, is unambiguously the holotype. It is illustrated in colour in Pl. XLV: fig. 17 (Kaye 1925, Kaye & Lamont 1927).
