Phlugis virens (Thunberg, 1815)

Fig. 9B

Distribution: Brazil: ParanĂ¡; Cuba.

New record for Brazil and for the ParanĂ¡ State.

Comments: This species is currently considered as a junior synonym of P. chrysopa, but we follow here the proposition of Dr. H. Braun that suggested on the OSF database (Cigliano et al. 2022) that P. virens should be considered as a valid species. The subgenital plates of males figured here, although similar to P. chrysopa, present a much more restricted terminal dilation, resembling a golf club head. The syntypes of P. chrysopa, otherwise, present terminal dilations that are much longer and wider, resembling a spatula.

Bioacoustics: Sound not recorded.
