Distribution in Croatia: Distributed along the Adriatic coast and on numerous islands.

Distribution in Europe: Southern part of the continent, including many Mediterranean islands, reaching Southern Germany and the Czech Republic in the north and Eastern European Russia in the east. Range recently expanded to Eastern Austria, Germany and the Netherlands, but the extent of introduction by humans is unknown. Populations on the Canary Islands, the Azores and Madeira also likely introduced (Hochkirch et al. 2016).
