Arnoldtilla achterbergi Lelej, sp. nov.

Description

FEMALE (Fig. 6). Body length 4.4 mm. Head large, wide, 1.4X wider than pronotum, area behind eyes equal to eye length. Genal carina not developed. Clypeus anteriorly not dentate. Carina between supraantennal tubercle and compound eye well developed. Hypostomal bridge medially not tuberculate. Mandible tridentate, beneath not excised, inner border with two preapical teeth (Fig. 7). Scape curved, flagellomeres not flattened, pedicel long (Fig. 8), relation of pedicel and first three flagellomeres 1.0: 1.5: 1.0: 0.9. Frons and vertex with dense punctures. Mesosoma 1.35X longer than minimal width (before propodeal spiracles). Mesosoma with acuminate humeral angle and weak tubercles laterally. Mesopleura without precoxal carina. Propodeum posteriorly with three well developed teeth. Fore coxa with blunt tubercle. Mesosoma dorsally coarsely punctured, laterally glabrous, posterior propodeal face reticulate in dorsal half. Metasomal segment 1 broad, anterior and dorsal surfaces not divided by transverse carina. T1 baso­laterally with lamellate carina. Lateral felt line located on T2 only. S2 without median basal carina, not swollen postero­laterally. S6 without any tubercles. T6 without distinct pygidial area, glabrous shiny rounded area does not touch base, nor carinated laterally in apical part.

Head yellowish­red, frons somewhat fuscous; antenna yellowish­red, flagellomeres above brownish; mandible yellowish­red with darker denticles; palps pale brown. Mesosoma and legs yellowish­red, tibial spurs whitish. Metasoma brown, T1, T6 yellowish­red, sterna pale brown. Head, mandible, scape with sparse long erect and short recumbent yellowish setae, brownish ones on frons. Mesosoma dorsally with long sparse erect and dense recumbent yellowish setae, laterally with whitish recumbent micropubescence. Legs with long erect yellowish setae. T1 dorsally with band of dense yellowish setae. T2 basally with large median spot of yellowish setae and apically with narrow band widened medially of dense yellowish setae. T3 completely covered by dense yellowish setae. T2 and T6 laterally, T4 and T5 wholly with sparse long erect yellowish setae. Lateral felt line on T2 yellowish. Metasoma ventrally with sparse yellowish setae and apical fringes of yellowsh setae on S2–S5.

Etymology

This species is dedicated to Kees van Achterberg, world authority of Braconidae and curator of the Hymenoptera and Diptera collections in the National Museum of Natural History, Leiden, the Netherlands.
