Remarks.

The sequenced female of N. crassa from Portugal forms a distinct BIN (BOLD: AFV 0462). The p - distance between the specimen from Portugal and the barcode of a N. crassa specimen (MMHYD 270-20) collected in Norway, is estimated at 16.7 %, indicating the need for a taxonomic revision of N. crassa complex to identify possible undescribed cryptic species.

Distribution.

Europe; widespread but here reported for the first time for the water mite fauna of Portugal.
