Gymnetron haemorrhoum Rosenhauer, 1847

Gymnetron haemorrhoum was described from specimens from Hungary and compared with G. spilotum (Germar, 1821) [formerly Cionus and currently a synonym of R. bipustulata (Rossi, 1794)]. Desbrochers des Loges (1893) considered this taxon as a variety of R. bipustulata, whereas Reitter (1907) reported that he did not know this taxon but that it might be closely related to R. moroderi . Endrödi (1970) placed G. haemorrhoum in synonymy with R. tetra . We can confirm Endrödi’s opinion after the study of a female syntype preserved at MNHN and labelled “ Hungaria / haemorrhous Rosenh. / Ex Musaeo Rosenhauer” (lectotype here designated).
