Distribution. Western Atlantic – Bermuda, Florida, Gulf of Mexico, Antilles, Colombia, Venezuela, and Brazil (from Pará to Santa Catarina) (Melo 1996; Barros & Pimentel 2001).

Ecological notes. In high-salinity and estuarine waters near river mouths and mangroves. Shallow waters to 8 m (Melo 1996).
